As I Am

Self Portrait, 17 March 2024, 8:37AM

Listen…

I crave to be taken as I am
Unvarnished
Raw
Contradictory
Exploratory
Unfinished

I was brought into this world
Raw and bathed in bodily fluids
God knows I have chased the bodily fluids
Merging mine with theirs
Coveting the spontaneous combustion
Of chest against chest
Of lips against lips

The only sin is
Not to have loved

But wet as I am
I will leave here crusty and desiccated
Every drop used up
Given and shared
I will be a dry empty shell
All the precious moisture spent
The fluids given back
Until all that persists
Is my spirit
Soaring above the heaving plains

I will give myself to you
Gladly
Joyfully

All I ask
Is that you take all of me
Every last shred
The rough with the smooth
The broken with the sublime
The dark with the luminous
I am indivisible
One true creation
Under God

If you want me
You must take me
As I am

I will be taken as I am
Or not at all

So forceful, so masculine. I love the world of ideas and inspirations you’ve put into “the heaving plains”. Wonderful image. Bravó!
